Violinist Shane Madden's combination of heavy whomp and live instrumentation makes for a mind-blowing performance. Better known by his alias Govinda, Madden's individualized talent has landed him gigs at numerous festivals throughout North America including Coachella, Lightning in a Bottle, Sea of Dreams, SXSW and more.

Govinda has played with Thievery Corporation, Tipper, Bassnectar, Shpongle, Cheb I Sabbah, STS9 and many more and been featured on over 25 compilations such as Buddha Bar II, Asian Travels II, and Nirvana Lounge selling a combined 400,000 copies. Govinda’s music has been licensed on shows like “Roswell” WB, “Road Rules” MTV, and “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” Bravo as well as many independent films.

The Govinda live show is truly a multi-sensory experience that features professional dancers, live projections, resonating vocals and a sonical sound-scape. His live experience is full of vibrant energy that plays to its crowd. Govinda performs on Ableton Live accompanied by classical violin. Govinda is currently touring in support of his album “Universal On Switch” which was released independently earlier this year.

OM UNIT
(Planet Mu / Metalheadz / Cosmic Bridge - London, UK)
https://www.facebook.com/omunit
http://soundcloud.com/omunit
http://www.omunit.com/

“Om” The supreme and most sacred syllable, and believed to be the spoken essence of the universe. “Unit” a single thing or person. Om Unit has built a deserved reputation as one of the strongest and most consistent artists in the electronic sphere. His 2010 reworking of Joker’s ‘DigiDesign’ was sanctioned by Kode9 for white label treatment & original material quickly followed on Fabric-curated ‘Elevator Music’ compilation, the ‘Lavender/Lightgrids’ 7″ for the All City & ‘The Corridor EP’ for Plastician’s Terrorhythm imprint.

Now across a series of 3 EPs for Civil Music Om Unit has defined himself as a uniquely talented & groundbreaking producer whose sound & style is distinctive yet diverse. He explored Real Electro on ‘The Timps’, experimented in Mechanical Soul around the 80/160bpm mark on ‘Transport’ & created the rousing cinematic journey of ‘Aeolian’. Om Unit was selected for the Red Bull Music Academy as part of the class of 2011 in Madrid & performs as part of London’s ‘Tempo Clash’ residents with Kutmah, Kidkanevil, Blue Daisy & Offshore. He has launched his own label ‘Cosmic Bridge’ & appeared on compilations for Project Mooncircle & Pinch’s Tectonic Label.

Released across 3 volumes throughout 2011, Om Unit conducted the ‘Philip D Kick’ experiment. (read more here) Conceived as an anonymous alias as PDK he pioneered the combination of Jungle & Footwork in a series of edits. Intrigue grew ever larger as the identity of the producer was sought. Om Unit simultaneously revealed himself as Philip D Kick & retired the alias at the peak of the hype but not before connecting with Machinedrum .The producers discovered they had independently conceived the jungle/footwork hybrid on either side of the Atlantic & went on to collaborate as ‘Dream Continuum’ with the highly anticipated ‘Reworkz’ EP on Planet Mu in early 2012.

Om Unit has in a short time remixed an extensive list of peers, amongst others Daedelus, Om’Mas Keith, Fracture, Starkey, Ital Tek, Shigeto, Pixelord, Sweatson Klank, Illum Sphere, Adam Freeland & Foreign Beggars. He has collaborated with Mark Pritchard, ARP101, Lorn, Danny Breaks & Kromestar, made live appearances at Sonar, Glade across the UK, Europe, Russia, Australia, New Zealand & beyond and appeared twice on Boiler Room & provided mixes for XLR8R, Dummy, Lucky Me, Electronic Explorations, Clash Magazine & more.

Based in London Om Unit is the alias of Jim Coles. Producing since his early teens starting with Jungle he graduated via the world of turntablism under the ’2tall’ moniker to represent the UK in the DMC world DJ championships. As 2tall he appeared on the John Peel show, collaborated with Dabrye, Foreign Beggars, Kashmere, Jesht & produced 3 albums including “Beautiful Mindz” a collaborative project with U.S duo Dudley Perkins & Georgia Anne Muldrow (Stones Throw), & “The Softer Diagram” on L.A-based Content Records. After performing Decks ‘n’ FX in dubstep pioneers Various Productions & Jim retired 2tall in 2008 and reset.
Now as Om Unit, with a career moving forward at rare pace, he has quickly become one of electronic music’s most pioneering & unique front-runners. One of the most exciting artists to emerge in recent times, his output, packed with unique combinations of style & diverse demonstrations of its makers adaptability, is consistently helping to shape music’s electronic landscape.

After an already frantic year with releases on Planet Mu, All City, and continuing his work with his Cosmic Bridge imprint, ahead lies tracks for Metalheadz, more collaborations, an extensive worldwide tour schedule (including August’s US/CA tour which is book-ended by appearances at L.A’s Low End Theory and NYC’s Muesum of Modern Art), and his debut album scheduled for mid 2013 with Civil Music. The future looks ever brighter.

FALCONS
(Alphapup / Hellfyre - LA)
https://www.facebook.com/falconsmusic
http://soundcloud.com/oaklandfalcons

Falcons is an amalgamation of many things, a boiling pot of styles and genre-free influence. With musical tastes ranging from world music to southern rap, and everything in between. The only rules are to push the boundaries of conventional r&b, rap, and electronic music, exploring new directions, but never losing site of the dancefloor. Beyond just production and remixing, Falcons is talented as a DJ, blending similar artists in the genre, as well as paying homage to the classic hip-hop and r&b that inspired. The live set consists of seamless mixing, and party rocking, as well as live remixing and effects work, giving the audience something to dance to, or watch. Some of the shows Falcons has been involved in are Low End Theory LA & SF, Love Parade Music Festival SF, Change the Beat SF, Boiler Room LA, Hellfyre/Alphapup Artists Showcase, Shambhala Music Festival Vancouver, and many more.

808K
(Lefty & Nikes)
https://www.facebook.com/808krew
https://www.youtube.com/808kmusic
http://soundcloud.com/808k

It’s no secret Austin, TX is a musical hotbed nurturing a wide variety of forward-thinking artists and niches, and 808K has become a vital part of the electronic music ecosystem with its dedication to forward-thinking, bass heavy dance music. Bass music has become a pretty broad descriptor for a range of styles including House, Dubstep, Trap, Juke, the Beat Scene, but the resident DJ's behind 808K aren’t interested in narrowing down genres. In the words of 808K co-founder Nikes, “the goal is to showcase original and timeless music.” 808K was founded by local DJ's Lefty and Nikes, who met in 2012 at a show in downtown Austin and bonded over their love for Dubstep and interest in DJing. The two decided to collaborate, and eventually found themselves a monthly slot at Austin’s premier bass music club, Barcelona ATX, marking the birth of 808K. After bringing in local favorites Ben Aqua and Sines, and introducing Austin to Chicago Juke/Footwork legends DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn, 808K looks ahead in showcasing new emerging styles from the Bass music world to the Austin club scene.

GALVANIX
(Gravitas)
https://www.facebook.com/Galvanix
http://soundcloud.com/galvanix

Galvanix is quickly becoming a name in the producer circles with recent hit remixes of Frank Ocean’s Wiseman, and Seven Lions’ track Days To Come that have been featured on Hype Machine, and numerous blogs from around the world. While Galvanix’s name is starting to circulate globally for these remixes, people in the EDM scene are already familiar. A staple of the Austin live music scene and member of the Gravitas Recordings crew, Galvanix has given locals a great taste of all different genres of EDM from around the world, right in their hometown.

Without setting a genre-specific sound to his sets, Galvanix delights crowds from all different EDM circles playing to them and their energy and knowing just how to get the party started or keeping it going. This ability to have crowds dancing and raging has made Galvanix a much sought after bill-mate to world renowned acts such as Andy C, Borgore and Downlink, among many others. The fact that Galvanix has been tapped to open for a diverse set of artists illustrates how well his sets fit any crowd or venue. Putting together guest mixes for blogs such as TheWaxhole.com has opened up another avenue for his skills and shows that he can do it all.

While 2012 was an exciting and busy year for Galvanix, expect more from him in 2013 as he delves into more remixes, originals and further honing his skills on the live scene. Galvanix; remember that name, and that hair.
