ANTISERUM
(SMOG - SF)
http://www.soundcloud.com/antiserum

Antiserum is an electronic dance music producer from San Francisco, whose originating style of West Coast bass music emerged during the dawn of the Bay Area dubstep movement. His music is characterized by the use of heavy drums, rolling bass lines, and distinct melodies, with a tight production style that gives nods to hip-hop, soul, funk, drum & bass, reggae, and metal. His live DJ performances oscillate between high-octane mixes and emotional progressions, built around new and unreleased material with a focus on high energy and dance floor appeal.

Reaching a prominent international audience through Beatport in 2008, Antiserum landed the 8th best-selling dubstep track of the year. His first tour launched in 2009 to Australia and New Zealand, which set forth a whole new fan base and realm of inspiration that brought him back for a second tour two years later. By the start of 2011, he released The Swarm EP with Rottun Recordings, opened for Excision and Downlink on first full-scale dubstep production to hit the US: the 30-show Subsonic Tour. He was picked up by Caspa’s Dub Police label with his collaborative renditions of the West Coast's own "purple" sound, featuring the tracks "Zephyr" and "Purple & Gold" with Los Angeles dubstep warrior 12th Planet and the multi-faceted ill-Esha. Antiserum’s dynamic production style has also sparked collaborations with electronic artists Eskmo, DJG, ill-esha, Noah D, Triage, Mayhem, Dubsworth, Vinja, and Babylon System. Aside from his regular live DJ performances, Antiserum has also guest lectured and performed at Ex’pression College for Digital Arts in the Bay Area.

2012 stands as Antiserum’s biggest year thus far, landing his collaborative track “Droid Prom” with live musician Dubsworth in the opening scenes of the CSI: Miami episode “Friendly Fire”, and releasing his co-production with 12th Planet titled “Ghost” on The End is Near EP by Scion A/V (including tracks by Shirley, Flinch, SPL, and Kill the Noise). Antiserum's most recent production "Brick Squad Anthem", a collaboration with Atlanta bass music producer Mayhem has been getting huge support from Shirley, Diplo, rabbiedarobat, Flux Pavillion and lots of other key players in the bass music world. Look out for forthcoming collaboration tunes with 12th Planet, Mayhem, & Djunya on SMOG Records very soon!

DJ SPINN
(Teklife, Lit City Trax, Ghetto Teknitianz - CHI)
http://soundcloud.com/dj-spinn-1

Starting out at the early age of 14, Spinn already had his mind set on future goals when it came to music. Whether writing, dj'ing, dancing or producing Spinn always stayed on top of his game. In 1997, while dancing with Chicago's infamous 'House-O-Matics', Spinn gained a honorable rep DJ'ing for one of Chicago's number 1 dance groups. Also in the same year obtained DJ gigs for the biggest teen parties in Chicago including: Club Cavilini's in Harvey, Dolton Expo, Markham Roller Rink, The Rink on 87th and numerous house parties and school events. So by 1998, SPINN had a following that loved the style of house tracks he and long time buddy DJ Rashad were creating. So Spinn got an opportunity to drop one of his house tracks "Bout It Bout It Mix" to 12" vinyl with Ray Barney's 'Dance Mania Records' on a DJ Thadz album and co-produced "Kick That Shit Off" on the same album. Spinn was also featured ("Muthafuka", a Paul Johnson Remake) on Chi-Town's cult house mix "Bang Bang Bang, Skeet Skeet Skeet" album which also featured DJ Rashad (Child Abuse Track).

Gaining more production credits on local mixtapes and DJ credit at the parties it was only a matter of time before Spinn & Rashad got their chance to grace Chicago's number 1 dance music distributor. But in late 1999, Dance Mania Records had stopped distribution of the 20 year company which was responsible for blowing up dj's & producers like Traxman, DJ Funk, Jammin Gerald, Paul Johnson, DJ Deeon, DJ Milton, DJ Slugo, DJ Nephets, DJ PJ & DJ Gantman to name a few. Since 2000, Chicago's house scene has evolved into what is now know as JUKE and the movement is growing day by day, city by city and at the front of the line are DJ Spinn, DJ Rashad, DJ Clent, Gant-Man & DJ Nephets, bringing the style & flavor of the old school mixed with the energy & emotion of the new school. In 2007, DJ Spinn's music was also featured on BET's 106&Park, and TBS' Ellen DeGeneres Show. You can tune into Power 92.3 in Chicago to check out the latest tracks; All you guys out there that think 'House Music' is dead, think twice.

STATESIDE BASS SESSIONS 3 presented by SUB.CONSCIOUS · DOANDROIDSDANCE · GRINDHOUSE · MUNITIO · March 13-15 (SXSW) Distal

DISTAL
(Embassy, Tectonic - ATL)
http://soundcloud.com/distal

Distal is an already established 28-year-old veteran of Electronic music. Forgetting bpm and genre to the masses, he relies only on his signature sound alone to leave its mark. He produces a wide array of moods, tempos and rhythms, often taking influences from his early childhood love of techno, jungle and hardcore. Before entering the world of production head on Distal spent a few years under the microscope at Georgia State University researching a sensational auditory phenomenon called Synesthesia. One day while digging through Breakcore records he stumbled upon a sound that would inspire him to launch his production career (Pinch - Punisher on Planet Mu). Using his newfound passion, traditional teachings and his scientific studies in unison he ran head first into the studio winter of 2007.

In early 2010 Distal started his own label ‘Embassy Recordings’ with childhood friend Ethan Anderson (MITE). Soon there after in the summer of 2010 he would receive his inaugural physical vinyl release with the legendary label Soul Jazz Records. This would be the launch pad for his career landing him releases on stalwart labels such as Tectonic and Tube10 and gigs at places like the world renowned Fabric in London touring globally alongside artists like Pearson Sound and Africa Hi Tech. From his initial release in 2010 until 2012 Distal has put out almost a dozen 12” vinyl releases and that many more digital releases, collaborations and remixes for prolific labels like Frite Nite and Trouble & Bass. But his biggest accomplishment will come in the form of a 14 track Album on Tectonic in the spring appropriately named ‘Civilization’. Looking ahead Distal is already thinking about future projects, and how to genuinely push things forward and farther than he has in the past. He lives to create, expand and invent. Hopefully one day leaving a legacy on the world as one of the most in demand artists North America has ever seen.

HULK
(BroTown, SubHuman, Rottun, SwishaHouse - NY, CHI)
http://soundcloud.com/hulk

Hulk is the impulsive, bone-breaking alter-ego of audio-scientists Claw and Richie August. They combined their creative powers for the common good after meeting at the 2009 Winter Music Conference in Miami, exchanging research and data in the fields of Dubstep, Hip Hop and Drum & Bass. But after an experimental dubstep drop exposed them to gamma radiation, their talents fused into the raging, supreme beast that is Hulk. The deadly duo then began to tear through the music world, crushing all in their path without pity or mercy. Notable heroes have been alerted to and crossed paths with Hulk, including Modestep, Reid Speed, Excision, iwrestledabearonce, Mrk1, Downlink, Dieselboy, Caliban, Bare, The Gaslamp Killer, Emmure, Messinian and DJ Lord of Public Enemy.

Hulk's first official release was homebased in 2010 on Reid Speed's Play Me Records as a Beatport Exclusive. The duo followed by dropping the bomb known as "The Brotorious EP" on Dieselboy's SubHuman Records. Unfortunately, Hulk has shown no signs of stopping. Of further concern, releases on BroTown Recs, Mrk1's Contagious Records, Ultragore and SubHuman Records have only served to garner support for this ground-pounding terror! The consolidation of their own label, BroTown Records, now with its 20th release, assures that Hulk is not only an unstoppable force, but is now furthering an entirely new batch of artists & collaboration and experimentation, to what ends we cannot know. We fear the music world may be doomed. We can only hope for salvation as Hulk prepares to destroy by releasing tracks from Messinian, Subshock, Mumblz and of course audio-smashings from Claw and Richie August - together, HULK.

EDWARD OBERON
(31, Cylon, Clear Skyz, BIOS - NYC)
http://soundcloud.com/edwardoberon

He stepped on the scene in 2009 with a renewed spirit and determination, and the pulsating beats to back it up. None of this has gone unnoticed: this Wales born New York resident has gotten a steady stream of labels locked down his diverse tunes, with releases on Doc Scott’s 31 Records (“Noir”), Fabio’s Creative Source (“Paradise”, a true 1Xtra favorite) and Vampire Records already under his belt in his short time going solo. Edward’s received radio airplay on Radio 1, 1Xtra and Bassdrive; features in magazines like Knowledge, ATM, High Times and BPM; props from websites and organizations like like Dogs On Acid, Drum & Bass Arena and Bassdrive.

Some of the biggest compliments, though, come from our peers, and with DJs and producers like Flight, Bailey, Loxy, Resound, Gremlinz, Heist, LTJ Bukem and Big Bud, all having rinsed and praised his solo work, he’s definitely a mover, and poised to shake things up. His background in writing and producing Classical, House, Electro and minimal soundscapes has also lead Edward to have his music featured New York Fashion Week - no small feat for an artist who just a few years ago was more or less re-establishing his brand, a sound of deep atmospherics and truly enriching bass, all wrapped up in captivating melodies. The sound of Edward Oberon is the soundtrack to life and all of its many textures. Truly inspiring material.

TASO x WOLF BITCH
(Teklife, Sucka Free Soundsystem - SF)
http://soundcloud.com/taso

Taso has made quite a name for himself recently in the Bay Area’s Hip Hop & EDM scene. With DJ, mixtape, and blog supports coming from some of the biggest names in the industry, along with chart topping, highly coveted tunes on Beatport, this is definitely an artist to pay very close attention to. His recent releases have been the highlight of some of the best parties on a global level, making his 100%, all original DJ sets incredibly sought after.

There is jazz buried between the crevasses of Taso’s music, and his work resounds with a feeling of distinct street beat crossed with the substance of technical virtuosity. His sounds are trunk-busting, slow rhyme inducing, pop-and-lock, deep, West Coast breaks with a hint at elements of Dubstep. In a flash, Taso’s use of synths, samples and drums proves as razor sharp as any contender in the big bass alleyway of top ten lists across the EDM globe. You will always find the crowd shouting and singing to Taso’s beats at his shows, while he raps on the mic and cuts it up on the 1s and 2s.

In 2012, Taso was asked to join and represent Teklife (Ghetto Teknitianz, founders of Juke and Footwerk) and is the only member representing this notorious crew on the West Coast. Recently, he released an official Cutty Ranks Remix alongside Djunya and is also having a major single coming out on Play Me Records, featuring a remix by NastyNasty. He is currently working on an official remix for Masia One featuring the Rza of Wu-Tang (due to be released on Muti), as well as one for Iamsu and Wiz Khalifa for clubtapes.com & livemixtapes.com. Back when he was more involved in the production of Dubstep, Taso released a full length album, “Galactive Booty Call”, in May 2012, which went to #9 in the top 100 albums on the Dubstep Charts for Beatport and #34 on the overall albums as well as #2 on the Glitch Hop top 100′s.

Having spent the greater portion of his life crafting a musical identity from his unearthly passion for big bass and brining people together for an insanely good time, Taso never fails to deliver only the most top notch performances. With recent exposures such as a feature on Trap-A-Holics Certified Trap Vol. 2, and plays on Berlin’s BLN.FM, this is one boss young gun to be on the lookout for.

SINISTARR
(Urban Tribe, SMOG, Metalheadz, Loose Squares - DET/SD)
http://soundcloud.com/sinistarr

Sinistarr has made his mark onto the international drum and bass scene with his unique interpretation of his rich musical influences from his hometown, Detroit, the famous city known for its authentic house, techno, and electro. DNAEBEATS
(Alpha Pup, Low End Theory - SF)
https://soundcloud.com/dnaebeats

DNAEBEATS is a SF-centered artist who splices multiple genres into a mutant sound all his own. His much heralded mix tape "There's a Wormhole in my Bathroom" is aptly-titled and must-download. As an accomplished hip hop beat maker (working with the likes of Gift of Gab) and a producer in his own right, DNAE seamlessly weaves together Hyphy, Dubstep, Electro and Experimental into a sonic fabric that sounds like it was teleported through a tear in the time-space continuum.

DNAEBEATS has indeed put it down since day one, contributing to the Bay Area scene with his parties, performances and productions. His first incarnation producing for underground Hip Hop artists like Mr. Lif, Gift of Gab, Z-Man, Lateef and MF Grimm led into his to his current flavor of grimey, psychedelic dirty electronic instrumentals, helping him become a staple on the West Coast and abroad. His events in SF have supported many emerging local acts, including many Frite Nite artists and from nights like Low End Theory to big tours in South America and Europe, he’s paid his own performance dues twice over.
