The turn of the century has seen many incredible innovations in the production and development of drum n’ bass. Over the past decade the genre has been broken, recast, and mutated into perhaps the most aggressive and visceral manifestation of music today. The multi-talented artists Evol Intent are among the greatest purveyors of this incendiary, modern jungle sound. Operating as a three piece power troop, Knick, Gigantor and the Enemy have produced some of the most ephemeral and progressive drum n’ bass to date. The outfit’s uncompromising and inimitable drum tirades left an indelible mark on the U.S. scene and the globe at large. Birthed out of hardcore-punk culture, the trio developed a unique method for wrecking soundsystems. The Evol Intent approach is unmistakable: combine dynamic drum mechanics, razor sharp edits, sawtooth synths and an element of discord resonant of their punk youth. In a very short period of time the group has amassed a substantial discography while recording for their own Evol Intent label as well as numerous prestigious imprints such as Renegade Hardware, Outbreak, and Human.

Besides the Liquid Sky community, Dara is probably New York's leading exponent of Drum & Bass. He has led several club nights around the city. Dara is considered one of, if not THE best Drum & Bass DJ in the USA, but his presence is felt internationally. Orignally from Ireland, Dara moved stateside in the early '90s and quickly established himself in New York's underground dance scene. Furthering the movement, he helped open Breakbeat Science, the first Drum & Bass-only record store in the country, which lead to the development of two spin-off labels, Breakbeat Science Recordings and Orgone. Not to be outdone by his peers, Dara released his first full-length album, Rinsimus Maximus in 1997, which was quicly followed by Halfway Home on the same label (Sm:)e Communications) and the mix CD From Here To There on Moonshine Music. In addition to recording music and running his record store, Dara's also known for his Web-TV show, Velocity, through which he interviews Drum & Bass contemporaries from around the world. Dara has a keen ear for the classic style of clean Drum & Bass and he uses it to create dark and beautiful melodies with hints of color from deep bass grooves with seamless transitions. With his own record store (Breakbeat Science) and his own labels (Breakbeat Science Recordings & Orgone), Dara not only plays the scene but lives it in all aspects of his life.
