FSTZ's fun happy thread for producing music on the iPad
ok, I haven't really told anyone but I have been working on some new sounds / projects with my iPad
NO.. I am not going to talk about the apps everyone knows about.. rather interested in the sleeper apps and devices that don't get as much love.
1st things first.. if you have an iPad I would highly recommend getting the Griffin midi connect (I found mine for $60)
I have tried the IK Multimedia and it was a total POS
I would also like to get the Alesis I/O dock
all that connectivity should give any producer an e-boner

This app also looks next level
Muza works in a musical scale, whatever button you press - you'll never miss your notes.

Re: FSTZ's fun happy thread for producing music on the iPad
You know if they make an equivalent of that Griffin for iphone?
I hate all the MIDI adapters for iphone that use these fucked up proprietary cables, I want something just like in that first picture.

Re: FSTZ's fun happy thread for producing music on the iPad
yeah, it works on my iPhone too
it's dope and I hate anything that adds a massive block to my already blocky iPhone
I have had no problems with that griffin device and I use it daily

Re: FSTZ's fun happy thread for producing music on the iPad
I just got TouchOSC and it's pretty damn awesome so far
I am in the process of customizing a template for Traktor Scratch
it'll be great to have a dedicated multi-touch controller for just FX, stutters, etc...

Re: FSTZ's fun happy thread for producing music on the iPad
okay, okay, here's my list - which I've owed JJ for a hot minute.
first: TC-11 - yeah it's 30 bucks, but it's worth 200. the single most unique synth interface I've seen, including the reactable, and that synplant thing that is actually goofy.
audulos or audulus or whatever... its like reaktor in your ipad, and its like 8 bucks. im not kidding. touch-based REAKTOR for 8 dollars. why are you still standing there?!
good synths:
Animoog (JJ knows. i plugged this into my monitors.. fucking GAWWWWD)
magellan
grain science
addictive synth
pixel wave (chip tune! whee!)
iDensity is dope for granular shit too
of course iMPC... its kinda fucking awesome, and I got it when it was like a few bucks.. not sure how much it is now.
TouchOSC - standard - until I shell out $50 for the lemur app (I will, too)
LiveFX - its an 8 dollar fucking KAOS PAD.
audiobus - that way all your audio apps can play nice together
slide control - the closest thing to a Haaken Continuum keyboard for under $3500 and the wireless midi is faster than a premature ejaculation
i've been looking for decent notation software but the only real option is Notion, and I hear the current version is shit.
i havent used ims20 or any of the korg shit. truth is, I use my ipad for sound design more than anything. ultimately it's not quite to the "studio on the go" for me yet, but it's a very different way to design sounds that I'll use later, and it gets me thinking in an altogether different way - which is always dope.
oh and Mushroom Wars. because I love that damn game.
I should really get back to this track
