I used to render midi's before I got my new machine

I have yet to max out my cpu / ram

and 4 synth "parts" on the access virus offloaded on the powercore (meaning 4 diff presets / versions)

the EMULATOR X2 offloaded onto the DSP on the soundcard

I got lots of ram for the other VST's

yeah man feel free.

coach still owes me some files too.

i'm gonna start something new today, as its the last day of the 25th year of my life and only seems like an appropriate way to waste time and ignore customers at work.

Re: Ableton question

Post by bellybelle on Wed Sep 16, 2009 2:07 pm

wait.....you're supposed to be rendering the midi tracks to audio before you render the whole tune?

oh boy i'm so late....Embarassed Oh and I don't think I understand the VST part....just because I don't really use VSTs...for the longest time, the laptop couldn't take all that extra processing so I just adapted to not using VSTs since...

Though I hear really great things about them. I've used Camel Crusher once or twice and it sounds pretty good but when people talk about diff VSTs and the like, I usually get lost and loopy eyed..

Re: Ableton question

Post by POOEE on Wed Sep 16, 2009 2:12 pm

no, there are no rules really

I used to render audio because VST's take up more computing power than wav playback

but VST's also sound better...

so if your machine can handle running bunch of VST instruments then go for it

It takes about 4 times as long that way. You dont lose the midi track when you do it this way either, its just frozen still. So all the VSTs and effects are still set, but disabled. Its basically doing what you just described but with two clicks.
