lets talk about Texts baby

so for the first time ever, i sent a text to the wrong person. it was embarassing and hilarious at the same time. i just can't believe it took me this long to do it.
if only they'd invent some kind of device that would send my voice to someone instantly.

it was a "miss u bro" to my little brother in san antonio, only it went by accident to a buddy here in austin, who sent back "huh?"

to which i replied "oops! sorry that was for my little brother"
which i realize probably sounded pretty suspect to him, but it was a real accident none the less. i laughed.

I've accidentally sent texts to students of mine before... so far i've been lucky that they weren't anything bad or embarrasing.

i really wish my phone had a group function for the contacts to avoid that

yeah dude.....i also prefer having conversations where i don't have to use my voice. Sometimes I forget I haven't used it after a whole day of feverish texting and posting

i like texting for short q + a convos.

anything more than like 3 messages back and forth and i'm gonna call you.

i was just having a dream that my friend chi had written a buncha books. they were all bad interpretations of my ideas put into book form.

i was looking on this wall and all his books were lined up and had different pictures of him wearing the same clothes, smiling and lookin all silly like normal.

then i woke up to the phone ringing and it was him.

i didn't answer it.

that's pretty strange

ever think about someone that you haven't seen or thought of in a long time...

like they pop into your head and then they call you like 5 min later?

i also did not answer.

i, however, was not dreaming about him at the time.

i used to have weird little connection crosses on a more regular basis. somewhat minor "coincidences" that always left me breathless and just in awe.

the other day, i was working on a tune and i used a sample of an unknown tune in the piece i'm working on. i played it out and didn't think anything of it but that i liked how it fit. the next morning, when i went to do an errand, i turned on the car, and wouldn't you know it! the sample i didn't know but had used was playing from the CD player. When I got back home, I asked kiddles who was that and told him the coincidence story. Then he told me he had been listening to an Atmosphere CD on the way home from work with the sample in it....so when he got upstairs and heard me playing a tune with a sample from the very last song he heard before he got out the car and came inside, it was a moment for him too.

A moment in and a moment on the outro. Werd. Not as personal...but it was neat all the same.

I hate texts because most of my friends never have any credit so I don't know whether they're cheap or hate me (or potentially both). I also think it's far easier to fob someone off by text because you can't hear that TOTAL LYING FUCK tremor in their voice that just gives people away so badly -"hey yeah, I'm really sorry I can't make it - something that I fully appreciated was going to happen came up but it was just far too convenient an excuse and it's important to me to appear nice even though I didn't want to actually say that I didn't want to go with you and lying is just so much easier isn't it?" - usually followed by the last ditch attempt at social nicety that is "hope you have a great night x". I'm always tempted to send a follow up with "cheers, hope you get cancer, hugs x" just to show I'm wise to the scam and perhaps generate some level of emotional honesty (although it's usually rather more than I ever hoped for).

Plus having to send five texts usually amounts to more money than a short phone call anyway

texts are pretty cheap over here

I think they're only about 10p each here but then most people get them bundled with their phone so much cheaper. I'd rather speak to someone for a minute than spend five clarifying some fairly simple information

Except the volume on my phone is perpetually stuck on low, so I can't hear shit unless I'm inside my cone of silence. Which is not portable at all.
